We began this process over a year and half ago in brainstorming sessions with area teachers, representatives of NWTC and professionals in programming, electronics, manufacturing and industrial design. In that time we went from a rough idea of what a makerspace means to the greater Green Bay area to an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) entity. That process involved reaching out to area businesses, schools and non-profit organizations that provide STEM programming to discover how a makerspace would impact their initiatives and what kind of makerspace would be supported. We made sure the community understood and accepted the idea before diving in.

Proto's mission is to build creativity, confidence and grit in our youth through hands-on, STEAM-focused projects, workshops and teams.
